Certificate IV in Business BSB40215

It can distinguish between micro (1-2 employees) to a small business with a lot more employees where the owner/manager is the principle directly involved in all aspects of the business or has a management team under him/her;
For example marketing, sales, management leadership, administration, conflict resolution, banking etc.

Qualification requirements

Pathways into the qualification
Preferred pathways for candidates considering this qualification include:

  • after achieving the BSB30115 Certificate III in Business or other relevant qualification/s, OR
  • providing evidence of competency in the majority of units required for the BSB30115 Certificate III in Business or other relevant qualification/s, OR
  • with some vocational experience assisting in a range of environments providing administrative or operational support to individuals and/or teams but without a formal business qualification.

Examples of indicative job roles for candidates seeking entry based upon their vocational experience include:

  • Accounts Clerk
  • Customer Service Advisor
  • Clerk
  • E-business Practitioner
  • Receptionist and/or Legal or Medical Receptionists etc
  • Office Administration Assistant
  • Student Services Officer
  • Word Processing Operator.

Units of Competency

Total number of units = 10

1 core unit plus 9 elective units

At least 5 of the elective units must be selected from the elective units listed below.
The other 4 elective units may be selected from the remaining elective units listed below, the BSB Business Services Training Package or any other currently endorsed national Training Package. If not listed below, 1 unit may be selected from either a Certificate III or Diploma qualification.
Elective units must be relevant to the work outcome, local industry requirements and the qualification level.

Units selected from other Training Packages must not duplicate units selected from or available within the BSB Business Services Training Package. Where the packaging of this qualification meets the rules of a specialist qualification at this level, then the specialist qualification and not the generic qualification must be awarded.

Upon satisfactory completion, a testamur will be authorized and sent via mail, after full payment has been received, and funds have been cleared.

All resources can be collected personally, by mail, or electronically, and is available to all staff, with teaching and assessment procedures being flexible to attempt to meet the varied needs of the students.

This course is a pathway for employees in the industry, and/or for further study for new employees or current employees wishing to upgrade into an advanced qualification
